Build Healthy Relations At Home
With the growing complexity of modern day life, building healthy relations at home becomes all the more important. Parents in the 21st century being tech savy and working, makes it demanding for families to create what we call a “Home Sweet Home”.
As we know family life is not built in a day. However, being applied over time, making time available to family members, communicating effectively, and supporting each other are important ways to strengthen families and build positive relationships at home.
Although young people today learn how to develop a safe and healthy relationship with friends, parents, teachers, families during adolescence. Where peers, in particular, play a major role in identity formation at this age, but relationships with caring adults — including parents, mentors, or coaches — are also important for adolescent development.
Building and maintaining positive relationships with all family members is not always easy. Families have times when tempers flare, feelings get hurt and misunderstandings occur. It helps to have good communication, flexibility, and creativity to manage these situations and maintain positive connections.
What makes a Healthy Relationship
Respect - Respect each person as an individual. A healthy partnership means learning about the other person & valuing what is important to them.
Trust - This means that you feel that you can count on each other & that the other person will be there for you. Trust needs to be earned over time & can be lost with a broken promise.
Communication - Is how we show our respect, trust & honesty. It requires listening & sharing thoughts & feelings.
